Dr BB Rewari has been appointed the new Acting WHO Representative in Bhutan. Dr Rewari has extensive experience in public health, and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role. Having held key positions within WHO and the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) in India, he has played a vital role in shaping and implementing HIV/STI/Hepatitis programs at regional and national levels.

Dr Rewari's distinguished career spans over three decades, during which he made significant contributions to the field of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment. His expertise in HIV clinical management and hepatitis has been instrumental in training health human resources across Southeast Asia, benefitting thousands of healthcare professionals. As a former National Programme Officer and National Professional Officer at WHO India, Dr Rewari played a pivotal role in the conceptualization, implementation, and monitoring of India's second-largest Antiretroviral Treatment (ART) program. His involvement in developing guidelines and rolling out prevention strategies, such as the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission program, highlights his commitment to comprehensive and evidence-based healthcare practices.

In addition to his extensive work in the field of HIV/AIDS, Dr Rewari has also contributed significantly to academia as an Associate Professor and Honorary Professor. His involvement with various prestigious institutions, including the University of Washington, has facilitated global collaborations and knowledge exchange. Dr Rewari's expertise has been recognized through fellowships from renowned organizations such as the Royal College of Physicians and the Indian College of Physicians.
