23- 24 June | Kathmandu, Bagmati Province - The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), with support from WHO, Country Office for Nepal, and US Department of State, organized the first national workshop on Emergency Medical Team (EMT) to strengthen Nepal's readiness for disaster and public health emergencies. Over 100 policymakers from the MoHP, Health Emergency Operation Centers, Provincial Health Directorates, hub hospitals, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and NGOs, participated to understand core concepts and functions of EMTs from national and international experts on EMT initiatives. Participants also discussed the draft of “Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of EMT” which is based on the latest Rapid Response Team and EMT Deployment Guidelines – 2022. WHO will now support the MoHP to finalize the SOP based on the workshop’s recommendations.
